  • Awesome Displays: NCA Sweets & Snacks Expo

Posted by on May 22nd, 2014 at 9:43 pm
Some of our favorite displays are the simplest. It's easy for big companies to show up and dazzle. But new and small companies are often challenged to create booths that beg to be entered. Here are some highlights: Stuff n Mallows (aka the Marshmallow Guys) encouraged visitors to make their own S'mores...yum! NutWhats' display included a simple and elegant "tree" filled with business cards Quinn Popcorn didn't bring their giant and clever booth to the show, but their smaller versio...

If you're going to name a product after yourself, you'd better be appetizing!  And these folks certainly were. Cool, gracious, and fun. Justin's Nut Butter, Duke's, and Sheila G's Brownie Brittle, and JimmyBar! are not only great products, but Justin, Duke, Sheila and Jimmy are all great people. If you're going to name your business after yourself, being present at a show and interacting with your fans provides that human touch. Seeing the face behind the brand gives this consumer confide...

Jerky, jerky everywhere! Perky Jerky is a company that knows what branding really means. From the giant camper they parked in the middle of the show floor to the delightful band of product-savvy "jerkettes" who were handing out samples to the jerky-covered man (below on right) who walked the show floor, practically daring people to rip the sample packs off his body, the entire show presence screamed out "This is way beyond jerky!" And, as we all know, the people in the booth and ...

Well, it's really not gossip. But it's behind the scenes. Most trade show visitors don't get to go into the press room. But now that I write this blog, I have media cred and am allowed "behind the curtain." (I used to work in the trade show industry, so I've been in many a press room -- but as an organizer or exhibitor, not as an actual press person.) One word -- WOW! Actually two words -- WOW and YUM! The National Confectioners Association made life super-easy for anyone writing about ...

We never like to trash anyone at a show People work hard and they do their best. But here are some of our peeves. We won't name names. But if you're reading this and you think we may be writing about you, re-consider your booth training! PLEASE do not eat your lunch in the booth. Customers and press don't want to talk to people with their mouths full. And if you have booth breath, sneak a piece of gum, but spit it out before you give an interview. DON'T speak ill of your management or l...

How sweet (and salty) it is! Jerky, pop, and gluten-free are the magic words this year! And, of course, candy never goes out of style -- especially chocolate. Did you know that 86% of all adults eat snacks? That's probably more than brush their teeth or have sex! According to industry experts, the sweets and snacks business is a $42 billion industry (and growing). The average American spends $106 a year on snacks. Crackers, nuts, seeds, and savory snacks are on the rise, as are yogur...
