  • Food Marketing Scores A Goal!

Posted by on June 22nd, 2012 at 4:17 pm
Food marketing has come a long way! Two exhibits stood out from the crowd and drove straight to the heart of our Best of Show category. The first booth was larger than life - a full-size RV that Delverde Pasta (http://www.delverde.eu/) takes on the road so they can eat and showcase their pasta wherever they like. Not only was the bus impressive, but they were showing a live Italian soccer game from the EuroCup 2012. Needless to say, the crowd of Italian men (and other soccer fans) grabbed our a...

  • Devouring the Summer Fancy Food Show

Posted by on June 22nd, 2012 at 3:39 pm
ShowGirlTalk arrived in Washington DC this past weekend, hungry for the latest in food trends, innovations and samples! The Fancy Food Show is always a favorite of ours, as the exhibitors tend to hold nothing back in their displays and enthusiasm for their products. An estimated 2,300 exhibitors filled the trade show floor, from over 100 countries around the globe. They showcased over 180,000 products, from subtle flavors of olive oil and vinegar, to mountains of cheese and new twists on childho...

  • Freestyle Frisbee Fun

Posted by on March 22nd, 2012 at 10:04 pm
Our friend Gary Auerbach (http://www.frisbeeguy.com/) lives and breathes fun. Not only is he a World Freestyle Frisbee Champion (pretty cool, right?), but he also speaks on issues such as sportsmanship, bullying and staying stress-free through games and activities. His booth was one of the most entertaining ones we saw, thanks to his constant energy and juggling/Frisbee tricks. It’s no wonder summer camps love this guy!   ...

  • Not All Camps are Still in the Stone Age…

Posted by on March 22nd, 2012 at 9:21 pm
These three young men from the Game Builders Academy (www.gbalearning.com) were energetic and friendly, but above all, they were passionate about their camp! No fancy or elaborate booths could beat the genuine enthusiasm this staff displayed for their camp. They even took the time to participate in a short interview about their backgrounds, featured programs and personal experiences in teaching children. These guys knew their stuff and can't wait to share their programs and knowledge with other ...

  • Camps Gone Awry!

Posted by on March 22nd, 2012 at 9:15 pm
Once again, we’re perplexed by exhibitors who refuse to show up to their own booths. Why rent the space if you’re not able to staff it?   The booth from Ripley’s Believe It Or Not? was a natural for this section. Yes, their wobbling safari explorer on stilts caught our attention, but he also made us worry for the safety of everybody around him. ...

  • Catching Your Eye, and Your Stomach’s Attention

Posted by on March 22nd, 2012 at 9:11 pm
Betzios pizza company (http://www.betzios.com/) made sure that nobody was walking the trade show floor on an empty stomach! The pizza was quick, easy-to-make and above all, delicious. Every time they pulled a new pizza out of the oven, a line of happy campers would materialize. And because their booth was so large and crowded, everybody remembered their brand!     “YES” is the key word at this eye-catching display. This booth by Kevin's Promotional Products (http://www...

  • American Camp Association Brings an Early Summer to Atlantic City

Posted by on March 22nd, 2012 at 9:04 pm
Ever wish you could relive the glory days and go back to your favorite summer camp? Once we’re past childhood, there’s nothing we can do…unless we revive our experiences with other camp enthusiasts! ShowGirlTalk made the trip to Atlantic City where the National Camp Association was hosting their 30th Tri-State Camp Conference. As we mingled with people from all different kinds of camps and backgrounds, we were amazed by how little the conference has changed over the years. Sure, there are ...

  • Nothing Crabby About this Couple!

Posted by on March 13th, 2012 at 10:57 pm
Angelo and Filomena Ramunni of Crabby Petes were hardly crabby!  They served their visitors with smiles and charms and even took the time to pose for this pic.  We loved their simple and effective booth -- how could one not "sea" that they are in the shellfish business?! ...

  • A Moo-ving Display and Another Creature That Made Us Smile

Posted by on March 13th, 2012 at 10:56 pm
What better way to say "dairy" than with a cow as your booth prop?  We love 3-D props that are true show-stoppers.  Udder-ly charming. And this truly creepy little display had people stopping and taking pictures (like we did).  Sometimes, ugly works!  (But not always...see "Freak Show" for one of the creature discomforts of the show.  ...

  • The Lights are On…But No One’s Home

Posted by on March 13th, 2012 at 10:50 pm
Empty booths are one of our biggest pet peeves.  If you have to run off somewhere, get a "neighbor" from the booth next door to stand guard.  (Or, bring enough people to staff your space!)  The unpacked boxes are another trade show no-no.   And we really love cute little animals and creatures as booth displays, but this "mascot" was sort of creepy. ...
