Glitz and Glam!
Glitz and glam were all the rage at this year’s BizBash! it sent our heads spinning looking at booth after booth; each one was more decked out than the next! Some of the coolest booths used their own products/services to make their booth stand out. Lights, fabric panels, stilt walkers, and even umbrellas (check out PBG’s LEDecor booth below!) can really add some wow factor! Some of the booths even made you do a double take! (Penny England as a “Sculpture” of The Statu...

Hello…Is Anybody Home?
There’s nothing more disappointing then coming across an empty booth. Whether you are a no show, or no one is manning your booth, it is in poor form. Exhibitors who have to cancel at the last minute should either donate their booths to charity or a start-up company, or at least take down their company sign. Try to make sure you have an extra person on hand if you must step away from your booth, there is strength in numbers!

The BizBash Buzz: What We Can't Stop Talking About!
While there were so many fabulous ideas presented at BizBash, the one we couldn’t stop talking about was New Balloon Art! The booth, featuring some of their larger than life balloon designs available for events, was eye catching and they kept the crowds coming with their fabulous balloon flower rings! People were asking where to get them all day, and were all thrilled when they received their customized rings!
Some of New Balloo...

Going to a trade show can be overwhelming right from the start….those lines to enter can be crazy! BizBash IdeaFest worked its way around that issue with the app EventBrite! If you downloaded the app on your iPhone, you got to feel like an ultra VIP, scan the code on your phone and receive your badge right away! I got into the event in less than a minute. What a great way to start off: fast efficient, and modern!

Food and fashion are both "passion categories" and clever exhibitors combined the two. Here are just a few of the awesome examples of how booth people broke the mold and wore their brand colors to attract attention. Gives a whole new meaning to "good taste!"
And, of course, we saw a few truly stand-out displays --- many of which were constructed on a tight budget.

The empty booth...exhibitors on the phone. It's always the same from show to show. You spend all this money and then you don't show up or you spend your time chatting with each other. C'mon people! Where are your table manners?

What are the hot (and cool) trends of 2013? The world seems to have gone nuts and gluten-free! And cheese springs eternal!
We also saw a comeback of some of our favorite childhood brands.
What's in a name? Sometimes a sm...

Despite the use of technology in marketing trade shows, we were disappointed with the fact that high-tech gizmos and gadgets are not necessarily being used to deliver better customer service. The wait for badges the first day (despite the fancy-schmancy barcode system) was exhausting, and exhibitors needed to remove badges from their plastic holders to scan them. We are hungry for the day when technology can really make life better, faster, and cheaper! We loved the recharging station, however...

We could just as easily have called this "Best of Show" because we were truly impressed! We've all heard the term "personal branding," and it came alive as company owners worked their own booths, chatted with their fans, handed out samples and demonstrated that they are real people and not just faces and names on labels.
A special shout-out to Brad, Justin, David, Kathie, Dave and countless others who serve as the faces and voices of their brands.

Overview
The unsung heroes of New York are (along with police and firefighters) the restaurant owners! They, along with food service, summer camp, nursing home, and other “institutional” buyers swarm to this show every year, hungry for new ideas. “Top Chef” on Bravo has taught us all about the difference between the front of the house, the back of the house, and in-the-kitchen drama. So, every year we look forward to grazing the aisles with fellow foodies and related businesses. This ye...
