Although technology is frowned upon at camp (so that kids can focus on fun, nature, and people!), innovative companies are creating ways to use technology to save time, money, and even lives.

Some of our faves at this year’s show:

Michael Ambrose, M.D. is the Owner/Director of CampDoc.com, an electronic health record system that helps camp staff file and access camper information.

Summer Camp Live takes the traditional camp fare and turns it into a virtual camp fair. Parents can research camps in their PJs, thanks to Director Felipe Ospina.

Tag is more than just a game. It’s a way to identify campers in photos. And Pixiom has created a way for parents to find their kids in camp photos, using an enhanced face recognition technology. It’s even Tablet and iPad enabled and smart phone accessible. So while kids are enjoying the great outdoors, parents can see their smiles. And we smiled when we walked by the life-size (human) Pixie at their booth.
